Federal All Candidates Meeting, Delta-Richmond East Riding

October 2, 2008
Delta Town & Country Inn

About 70 people turned out at the Delta Town and Country Inn the evening of October 2 to hear the views of federal election candidates in the Delta-Richmond East riding. Issues that were addressed included aircraft noise, Product of Canada labeling of farm products and other goods, military in Afghanistan, crime prevention, the national economy, Deltaport, South Fraser Perimeter Road, among others.

The Delta Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with co-sponsor, The Delta Optimist newspaper, was honoured to hold this event dedicated solely to this riding and the people of South Delta in particular plus East Richmond, breaking a past practice of combining the two federal ridings in Delta for all candidates meetings.

The Delta Optimist Editor, Ted Murphy, posed the questions at the event. Delta Chamber Directors, Greg Muirhead, President, and Tudor Williams, with Communications Committee member, Tanya Hawke, and Executive Director, Peter Roaf, officiated during the 1½ hours of presentations and responses to written questions, in advance and from the floor.
